A Soma yoga class begins with gentle movements for the spine, hips and shoulders. Principles of alignment promote healthy range of motion to muscles and joint. Students are gently guided into movements and postures with respect to individual need. An emphasis on breath anchors the mind and calms the emotions. Jean has been offering classes, workshops and facilitating retreats for over ten years. She is a member of the Kripalu Yoga teacher's association, receiving certification from Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in 1999. With over 25 years of experience in anatomy, kinesiology and movement studies, her teaching emphasizes the restorative and self renewing aspects of yoga. Much of Jean's work has evolved from her teacher training and advanced study with Donna Farhi since 2003.
"When we are supported by the intelligence of the breath, we learn to adapt our yoga postures to our unique structure. As we relinquish forceful effort and striving, we discover that the larger movement of the breath can support us in all aspects of our life."
